Laura Bontrager

Laura Bontrager has been proudly affiliated with the Diller-Quaile School of Music since 1992, when she began in the Early Childhood Program. She later joined the cello faculty and is now a member of the string quartet in Diller-Quaile's Classical Access outreach program. She came to New York City in 1986 to attend the Juilliard School, where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees, studying primarily with Joel Krosnick. Laura has appeared with a wide variety of orchestras and chamber music ensembles, in jazz and popular settings, on Broadway, and in solo recitals. She has performed with Leonard Bernstein, Michael Tilson Thomas, Leonard Slatkin, Bernadette Peters, Joel Grey, and Elvis Costello, and has recorded on the RCA Victor and Sony Classical labels. Laura is a certified Suzuki Teacher and a faculty member at both Diller-Quaile and the Chapin School in Manhattan. She studies with Dorothea Figueroa and currently plays in the new Lincoln Center production of Ragtime
