Guitar Program
The School offers a program of guitar study for the early beginner through the advanced high school student, beginning as young as age five. The typical weekly program for a young student includes a 30-minute Individual Lesson and a Musicianship Class. Older students take lessons of 45 minutes to an hour in length and, as they advance, participate in Guitar Ensemble and Repertoire Class. Students may also enroll in a program of Suzuki guitar study, which includes a weekly Group Class. Both in-person and live remote programs are available for guitar study.
INDIVIDUAL LESSON PROGRAM
Students enrolled in Individual Lesson Programs have a weekly comprehensive program of:
· Individual Lesson (30, 45, or 60 minutes)
· Musicianship Class
· Plus Optional Ensembles or Elective Classes
CLASS GUITAR INSTRUCTIONS FOR BEGINNERS
These small classes provide an introduction to guitar study in an engaging and supportive group setting. Students learn the fundamentals of first-year study, as they explore group and solo playing. GUITAR ENSEMBLE
Guitar students explore score reading and ensemble playing in ensembles of two to eight players, which meet weekly throughout the school year. Ensembles study a wide range of repertoire and are shaped according to level. Placement auditions are held in the spring for returning students and during interviews for new students.

Applying for Instrument or Voice Study for New or Returning Students
STEPS FOR APPLYING
Step 1: Complete the application and submit the application fee. The most effective way to register is via computer, instead of smartphone. Thank you.
Step 2: Complete the “Scheduling Form” sent to the email tied to your account.
Step 3: If your child is new to instrument study at Diller-Quaile, the Department Coordinator will contact you to schedule a placement interview. At the interview, experienced students may play or sing one of their current pieces. Children new to study will have the opportunity to try an instrument while together we assess their readiness for study. At Diller-Quaile the emphasis is on tailoring programs for each student’s educational needs, from beginning to advanced players.
Step 4: Following the interview, Department Heads will work with your family to plan a program.
